What is Diffusion

Diffusion is when particles are moving from a high area to a low area of concentration.

The aim of this experiment is to see if hot / cold water will defuse particles the fastest.

Hypothesis:
I think hot water because it has more steam and heat so it will defuse particles faster.

Method:
1. Half fill your petri dish with cold tap water.
2. Place the petri dish on your work bench and allow the water to become settled.
3. Using the tweezers, place a single crystal of potassium permanganate in the center of the petri dish.
4. Observe for 5 minutes.
5. Repeat the experiment using hot water.

Results:
The hot water defuse the potassium permanganate fastest.

Conclusion:
In conclusion my hypothesis was correct and the hot water defused the potassium fastest.

Growth Mindset

In wananga this week we were learning about Resilience and having a growth mindset. Having a growth mindset consists of turning negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
For example:

I can't do this > I can't do this yet
I can use some strategies to try to figure it out how to do it.
                         I can ask for help

I give up > I can do this
                  I need to try again
                  I can't do this yet!

Business Studies

  1. Explain what the production line is
It is when there is an arrangement that is manufactured  in a factory.

  1. Why was the production line revolutionary?
As well, since the assembly line simplified the manufacturing process, it meant that almost anyone could complete the work with relatively little training.
Finally, the increased efficiency of the assembly line allowed Ford to increase the basic rate of pay for his employees.

  1. How does the production line increase productivity?
  • #1 - Review Your Existing Workflow.
  • #2 - Update Processes and Technology.
  • #3 - Commit to Scheduled Maintenance.
  • #4 - Train and Educate Employees.
  • #5 - Organize the Workspace.
  • #6 - Maintain Optimal Inventory.

  1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the production line?
  • Specialization of labor and capital
  • Uniform product
  • Initial cost
  • Flexibility

  1. Provide an example of a business that uses the production line. ( Do not use the ford model T )

Tsunami

In social studies we are learning about tsunamis. Here is our work...

The purple tower is New York times tower with a tsunami at 300 metres
The brown tower is Chrysler building with a tsunami at 310 metres
The blue tower is The bank of America tower at 360 metres
The grey tower is Empire state building at 450 metres

Science

Hi, I wasn't at school on Monday so i am here to explain what some words mean.

Solvent: The substance in which the solute dissolves
Gorilla 1L Solvent Cleaner | Bunnings Warehouse

Solute: Substance being dissolved
A solution is when a solvent dissolves a solute. For example ...
Solution: A mixture that forms when one substance dissolves another
SOLUTION-ITN - Marie Curie - friction, tribology, material science ...
Dilute: To make a liquid less concentrated ( weaker )
ELISA Sample Dilution
Concentrated: A measurement of how much solute exists within a certain volume of solvent
Concentration Facts for Kids

The experiment we did on Monday was about how dilute a mixture can get when you take some from the first mixture which has a lot of colour in it because the potassium permanganate was put straight into it. We then took some of the mixture from the first solvent and added it into the second one which then became lighter. Then we took some from the second one and added to the third which became a lighter purple and when we did it one more time into the last one and the solution had pretty much no colour because it had barely any potassium permanganate so that made it less concentrated.
