Hi, I wasn't at school on Monday so i am here to explain what some words mean.
Solvent: The substance in which the solute dissolves
Solute: Substance being dissolved
Solution: A mixture that forms when one substance dissolves another
Dilute: To make a liquid less concentrated ( weaker )
Concentrated: A measurement of how much solute exists within a certain volume of solvent
The experiment we did on Monday was about how dilute a mixture can get when you take some from the first mixture which has a lot of colour in it because the potassium permanganate was put straight into it. We then took some of the mixture from the first solvent and added it into the second one which then became lighter. Then we took some from the second one and added to the third which became a lighter purple and when we did it one more time into the last one and the solution had pretty much no colour because it had barely any potassium permanganate so that made it less concentrated.
